We target faults as there the delivery path.

Going way back in time, millions of years ago.

The earth was covered in active volcano's.

These were causing fracture and much heat.

Today faults are the cause of earthquakes.

Back on minerals, minerals were forced under great pressure along these fractures. (faults)

Little hollows.

These minerals were in liquid form from heat, often as a steam.

They were pushed through the faults, cooled and solidified.

We generally have a mix of minerals as the liquids were pushed up from great depth.

Ie it all mixed up in a liquid.

It is why any cross faults of a main fault can be sources of deposits (branches)

Earthquakes, they would have been very severe with volcanic activity, often sheering faults.

It is why they can suddenly cease, and re appear in a different place.

If the faults are covered by over burden, or not destroyed by erosion, they generally can hold the mineral.

If overburden is eroded, sometimes a fault can be pretty empty if on surface as primary deposit migrates to secondary deposit.

If we look at gold nuggets for example, they are all secondary for example. Same as river gold.

So

Heat > fracture > push liquid > cooled > liquid solidify.

They do help to determine how far to drill to a degree, generally once on mineral you follow it.

No point chasing a fault down 1km on its own if no mineral.

Not all faults carry minerals, most are barren or low grade.

On raidens ground it is highly faulted, many will carry lithium minerals, many will not.
