Perhaps he sees more value growing STX from what was realistically assessed as pretty much a failed enterprise (Jaws proved to be going nowhere) into hopefully a multi-billion dollar company (after Perth basin acquisition and success), of course with his generous allotment of shares and performance rights along the way, to now own a meaningful percentage of the company; than it would be to be "poached" into a large organisation where he's starting again as a salary man, owner of nothing, and chances to multiply being very low. Given the choice, I know which one I'd take, but perhaps that's because I'm still slightly on the younger side and not exactly an old crowe(19)... yet.
