TC you can still be find places to rent in the North Suburbs of Adelaide (of which Evanston belongs to) for around $250 pw or less. I fully agree with you though that there really is something wrong with their own financial management when they can't afford repayments of around $15600 pa.
Just looked at the article again and it stated they had a $24k credit card debt - there is a big part of their problem.
