It's reported that SLX recruited staff from the SA weapons project in the 1980 - the name Horst Struve and Christo Leibenberg both appear to have a South African sound. SLX also announced (23/6/1998) that they originally purchased their lasers from SDI lasers in South Africa (SDI was sold in 2011:. A lot more details of the early South African "connection" are to be found HERE). At the AGM MG said that these lasers were superseded and disposed of in the 2016/17 period and that competitors (presumably LIS Technology - CEO Christo Leibenberg) would be unaware of the lasers currently in use. MG also went on to say that competitor (described as a "start up") historic knowledge would be confined to the expired laser element of the Silex process only. From this I presume that our technology is free of any encumbrances to competitors (our technology is also patented, albeit with "secret" patents which evidently do not expire)
