because Australia is such a bitch of the USA other countries can get at USA simply to influence and get access to Australia more, not to mention others
most countries see Australia as a vassal state.
USA likes to be a hegemony and will fight tooth and nail. It look s like USA will fight to the bitter end no matter what until they no longer can so for some negotiating with USA is a exercise in futility
If other countries try to block USA off to a degree and succeed Australia will be drifting and other countries obviously will try and extend relations and partner up or otherwise in terms of relations/trade with Australia as a result
