The total area of agricultural land in Australia with a level of foreign ownership has increased by 1.7% from 52.126 million hectares at 30 June 2019 to 53.026 million hectares at 30 June 2020.

The United States and United Kingdom are the biggest investors in Australia, followed by Belgium, Japan and Hong Kong (SAR of China). China is our eighth largest foreign investor, with 2.2 per cent of the total.

Canada is the top foreign buyer of prime Australian agricultural land followed by China and the United States.
