I think when buying overseas most do so on the belief that they won't bother returning the item if defective, etc, as the cost savings take that into account.
I bought myself a pair of Levi jeans from the USA a month back. I could not get any information to say if their size systems are the same as ours - so I took a punt and bought the Levi jeans @ $41 delivered. My reasoning was that if they didn't fit then I'd give them to someone would did fit into them. At the price I was happy to take the risk as an educational exercise. They fitted perfectly.
