@watso thankyou - plenty of good tips, (in your quirky way) - some of which I also apply - I don't have a microwave, but have bought an air fryer, in which I can do almost anything I can do in the big oven, except it takes less time, less energy, and the heat is quickly re-gained when opening to check, whereas the 'big one' always takes some time to regain heat. But I am going to try and bake bread inside a large Dutch oven, when the weather gets cooler, I am fed up with the bad quality, badly baked, so-called European bread our local Coles store is offering - but that fits only into the large oven.
Other than that:
many of your suggestions are commonsense, can't say that I would do all of those things, but have exchanged stories today with an Irish friend who grew up in 'country Ireland' about the ways farmers did things and lived economically - similar memories from my childhood with my one 'country' grandmother.
These people lived lightly on Mother Earth. and that is only a few generations ago, maybe we can do it again.
Go well
