The average Australian works for a small business. It's hard enough for some of these businesses to compete with the offshore online suppliers on price as it is let alone with the offshore suppliers enjoying a 10% advantage.

The small retailer has been having trouble for years. Not because of a 10% variable but because they are being screwed by big businees muscle. The big stores like Harvey Norman, Coles etc can extract tight prices from suppliers, that are not shared equally with small retailers.
This makes it hard for suppliers that suffer low margins and hard for smaller retailers. It has been that way since milk bars were pushed out by supermarkets ... even before.
