In short, yes, any institution that engages in shorting is complicit - which I believe is the vast majority of the large banks/hedge funds and the like. I have seen it happen numerous time with numerous stocks - IMO. I'm clearly not going to persuade you otherwise so I will respectfully beg to differ but would suggest you DYOR if you haven't already - ultimately, each to their own, unless you are also in the game, but I won't go there.
