I guess it's to complement the validation trial outcomes. Another 400 on top of the 300 in the validation trial but focused on those not suspected of having a stroke and extending around a year beyond the expected completion of the validation trial.
They clearly believe that the algorithms need additional training beyond that to be provided in the validation trial. Also, because they already have ethics approval and contractual arrangements for Liverpool Hospital they can commence recruitment immediately.
