I also understand yesterday's run up in IO stocks was partly attributable to the purchase of Canadian IO company Consolidated Thompson for US$4.9bn by Cleveland Cliffs (which assumes US$613/t given the plan for Consolidated is to ramp up to 8mt). It is clear miners and steel producers are willing to pay huge multiples to secure longer term IO supplies.
