    1impulse,
"You said There’s a 176 manual valves that need to be swapped out and 80 electronic ones do the math."
As I noted before I am a retired Oil and Gas Project Manager, so I have a professional curiosity about the causes and remediation of this debacle.

If it is limited to valve replacement I can't see the time implication. With good organisation, a valve can be changed out in minutes rather than hours. The cost is also not daunting - valves are commodity items and relatively cheap.

Automated "electronic" valves are just mechanical valves with an electronic actuator and sensors bolted on. I assume the electronics part is OK because the hazardous area electronic equipment is subject to much higher prescriptive standards than bulk mechanical equipment (valves and pipes).

More to the point, how on earth did this quality control fiasco happen?
Beach is an established Oil and Gas operator with many assets, including similar gas treatment plants.
How did they not apply normal oil and gas project standards, including quality control of mechanical bulks.
How did Perth-based oil/gas contractors and oil/gas consultants allow this to slip through their systems?
I believe the much-maligned now bankrupt Clough Engineering was the main EPCM contractor - they have years of previous oil and gas construction experience, so what went wrong with them?
    It is almost unbelievable.
