Yes it's easier to reverse park
Yes it's easier and safer to pull out
I have twice been hit by cars reversing out of a parking spot

I see lots of work places were it's compulsory to reverse park and I would say it's for safety reasons

I was in Byron Bay and noted that street parking was reverse angle parking, bloody brilliant as that make reverse parking easier and safer.
