Western Power chooses Hansen Technologies’
billing system for Meter Data Repository
Hansen Technologies Limited (Hansen), a leading provider of billing systems
and IT outsourcing services, announces that it has been successful in winning a
contract to supply the HUB network solution to Western Power Corporation
(Western Power). Western Power is Western Australia’s leading energy
company. The anticipated value of the contract over the next 3 years is $7.1
million.
This contract represents the second major implementation of the Hansen HUB
network solution in the Western Australian region.
Andrew Hansen, Managing Director of Hansen Technologies said, “Hansen’s
ongoing focus has been to understand the specific needs of Western Power and
support them with a solution that will give them greater effectiveness in enabling
retail meter readings of all WA meter points whilst maintaining compatibility with
existing Retailers’ systems and process. The HUB solution will enable Western
Power to be fully prepared for retail contestability in WA by 2007.”
Phil Southwell, Manager, Networks Customer Services and Business
Development and Project Sponsor for Western Power, stated, “This project will
deliver a solution for Metering that will allow Networks to better meet our
customers needs. Of most significance is the improved capability to
independently store and manage metering data and provide metering services.”

Hansen is now in a strong position to roll out successful energy solutions to
major utilities across Australia and will be able to replicate the solution for utilities
across the globe.
