    Hi Dewitte,

Good to hear from you. I am happy to know you have enjoyed my selections.

In my younger days (and they were years ago), I had a guitar group, made up of some childhood friends of mine, a brother of mine, and me. We played part time only. I played the lead guitar most of the time, but could play the rhythmn or bass guitars when I had to, also the drums too. It was an enjoyable period in my life.

For me, how a musician interprets a song or a piece of music is more important a perfect imitation of the original, as it reflects the musician's imagination and originality which I feel are important qualities in the rendition of music.

Music is creative; it brings out the power of imagination in an individual. Imagination is important in the ongoing nourishment and regeneration of our society. Without imagination, many of the great inventions and artistic works of our time would not have happened. Someone in the distant past wondered why could we not fly, and we invented the air planes. Someone in the distant past wondered why we could not speak to others far away, and we had eventually had the telephones.

For the reasons mentioned above, I feel every child should be encouraged to study music; it can be a learning of music theory, or learning to play a musical instrument.

I started the Amateur Hours thread, to show case some of the amateur musicians I have come across on the net. It is amazing how many talented musicians there are out there. They put my own musical capability to shame.

Just my thoughts on this subject on a Saturday morning in Sydney. It looks like it is going to be another warm and humid day here today.

    cheers.

    Stay Strong
