Peak time for a TO bid will be in the weeks just after the release of the weakest Quarter's results. In that context the comment might have been strategic. It might be to help their agent (UBS) make hay while the share buy-back is paused, if they are in fact behind the shorting. AUD down, CEO 'stumbling' on growth (most CEOs don't stumble) and implying weaker numbers for the Q which is a known based on last year, and a major milestone soon to be delivered to Neuren, plus buy-back stymied for now, you might almost 'triangulate' a date for an offer in Feb sometime...LOL.

Another quick one: Does anyone know if in that initial offering stage of a TO (opening up the books for due diligence etc), the usual general clauses around 'acting in good faith' might have some bearing on the appropriateness of continuing the SBB? Is that a possibility for the sooner than expected halt in December?
