Well this diagram shows their current thinking re Root Bay

GT1 has shifted away from the high pit constraint open pit thinking implied in the 10.1Mt JORC release just over a year ago. Now its a US$950/t starter pit that has an unstated depth but is perhaps nearing 200m deep. The ore within that pit that is 30, 50, 80m deep should have a cost structure well under the maximum allowed in the pit design. The second pit is US$1,500/t. UG mining takes over for anything not in these two pit designs and currently has an unstated cost. There may still be more optimisation work, particularly if elements at the bottom of the US$1,500/t pit can be done via UG at below US$1,500/t meaning the pit constraint would shrink and more would fall into UG delivery.

The UG manages to deliver the rest of the ore that is now not in the open pit design but will go deeper so the 10.1Mt JORC resource should see a significant increase in the next update.
