BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a US-based biotechnology company, has signed an agreement with Merck Serono S.A., under which Merck Serono will exclusively market BioCryst's anti-viral drug, Peramivir for influenza in Europe, Russia, Canada and Singapore. Merck Serono is a Switzerland-based biopharmaceutical company and a division of Merck KGaA.
Along with this transaction, Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC will also market Peramivir in the Middle East and North Africa region, excluding Israel.
BioCryst is currently enrolling patients in two Peramivir phase III studies intended to support US regulatory approval for influenza. Approximately 300 study locations are targeted to participate in these studies globally."
