Alcoa Inc and China Power Investment Corp has signed an agreement to collaborate on a range of aluminium and clean energy projects representing $US7.5 billion in potential investment within China and abroad.
?This is an historic opportunity at a pivotal moment in US-China relations,? Alcoa chairman and chief executive Klaus Kleinfeld said in a statement.
?Two iconic brands will be working together around the world in a long-term relationship, sharing best practices and experiences in promising emerging economies.?
The two firms will increase their collaboration on developing wind and solar projects as well as state-of-the-art aluminium smelting operations. They will also work toward developing high-end aluminium industrial parks.
Other projects may include mining, refining and smelting to collaboration on energy operations.
?Alcoa and CPI understand that the world's environmental challenges can best be met through cooperation between the US and China,? Mr Kleinfeld said.
