it feels like to renew Simberi, St B will have to grant a big concession w maybe a token payment on the tax?? maybe a Porgera like deal where they give up 30-50% (porgera is 50.5, the new proposed Wafi Golpu is 30% w Newmont and Harmony having 37.5% ea)).. so the govt shows a 'win' and St B doesnt lose existing infra/etc. and can produce? just a rough guess.
