I did come across that statement & I wondered how anyone would know that. Only a close "panning buddy" or family/friend would know. I mean, who goes around bragging to everyone they've panned 300oz of gold? You would only tell an inner circle that info.

Then again, that's a lot of gold, not exactly "beer money." So how true is that statement? I don't know.
