I wouldn't worry about the Chinese/Russian versions. The mere fact of them makes the JSF even more necessary than ever. A few budget cuts here and there will not effect implmentation of the overall program.
BTW there was an interesting piece on Stratfor.com earlier this week about the J20 - and the bigger picture about the role the Chinese military play in Chinese politics.
