The only alternative I can think of would be nuclear powered killer satalites using lazer weapons, we know nuclear powered satalites have been around for a while,so out of atmosphere strikes I imagine would not be such a problem, just how much advance has been made to use space based lazers down through the atmasphere to strike missiles within the atmosphere anywhere globaly is the question to my mind because if the US has that ability then MST weapons for space use would'nt be required.
Some time back I postulated a thought that MST stacked propelant tech (no projectiles) may have been investigated for use as small solid state rockets rather than weapons as solid fuels have many advantages over pressurized liquid fuels, just some thoughts ????????????
