Looks like stage one is 80-100MW of electricity generation capacity.. Does anyone know a rough cost per MW of electricity generation capacity?
Looking at the cost estimate in 2022 for a 160 MW Open Cycle Gas Turbine generation was $135m million in WA. Sourced from "Power station and associated costs Benchmark reserve capacity price 2023".
Strike energy has sanctioned in Nov 2024 an 85MW gas electricity peaking plant driven by gas driven reciprocating engines, CAPEX cost is $137m.
A quick google seemed to also show about $1.5m per MW; this probably seems more realistic (aligned to strikes cost).Additionally, QPM may shave a bit off as looks like they'll place it on their current site.
Anyhow, would be exciting down the track to have expanded our electricity production capacity to utilise greater netback per GJ of gas.
