ERG Welcomes New Director
The Chairman of ERG Limited, Mr Tony Shepherd, announced today the appointment of
Mr Michael Clarey to the Board of Directors of the Company.
Mr Clarey brings over 30 years experience in international banking and finance, having
previously worked in senior roles with JP Morgan Chase Inc and various predecessor
companies, subsidiaries and affiliates in the USA, Australia, France, Japan, and Singapore.
For the past five years Mr Clarey was Head of Structured Trade & Project Finance with
Australia’s Export Credit Agency, EFIC. Mr Clarey holds a Bachelors Degree in
Mathematics and a Masters Degree in International Management.
Mr Clarey’s appointment follows a decision by Mr Robert Topfer to stand down from the
ERG Board. Mr Topfer’s decision was made in view of his increased workload from his
executive role with advisory firm Babcock & Brown.
In announcing Mr Clarey's appointment and Mr Topfer's retirement, Mr Shepherd said "We
welcome the addition of a Director of the calibre and experience of Mr Clarey to the Board of
ERG. His experience in international banking and export related businesses is important to
a company with global operations. Mr Clarey's appointment ensures that the Board retains
expertise in the banking and finance area following Mr Topfer advising of his need to stand
down from the Board. The Board would like to acknowledge the contribution of Mr Topfer
during his tenure. His counsel and commitment during a period of transition and successful
restructuring of the Company's balance sheet was invaluable".
Mr Shepherd also announced that ERG Group Legal Manager, Mr William Bargmann, has
been appointed Company Secretary. Mr Bargmann replaces Ms Clare Barrett-Lennard who
has moved to a management position within ERG.
