"Low spec" gas is coal seam gas with a lower methane content than the gas currently supplied from the project. It is usually just flared off by the mines that extract it as it does not meet the specs required by the projects existing customers. This low spec gas can still be used in prime movers/generators that are designed to run on the lower methane content and therefore can be utilised for power generation purposes.
