If you wanted me to answer a question, it would have been a good idea to actually ask one. I was a little bewildered by your post because there was no mention of radiative transfer which I believe is the main mechanism for ocean surface heating. Sunlight penetrates the surface of the ocean with much of its energy being absorbed near the surface and all absorbed within the first 300m of ocean depth.
