Thanks for sharing that ...... BTR and Shangtai are both Chinese, they are expanding to get around the Western restrictions / sanctions / tariffs as short lived as their work around maybe
BTR - Indonesia, is already producing using natural (from Syrah) and synthetic graphite (https://projectblue.com/blue/news-analysis/1009/btr-commences-production-at-its-graphite-anode-facility-in-indonesia)
BTR - Morocco, is yet to be built by the looks (graphite source, but proximity would suggest coming from Africa)
Shangtai - Malaysia, construction to finish by 2026 sometime
This would suggest Shangta, POSCO and Mitsubishi Chem would be the preferred options - but just a guess really. The natural graphite has to be sourced from somewhere that has FTAs that don't limit their export capacity ......
Sometimes I feel we are so backwards in AU, chasing the short term $$$ (DSO, built crappy houses, sell off Uni education, etc) opposed to thinking long term and strategic.
