Trump is no traditional conservative and he aims to cut taxes to the rich as well as expand spending for the other end of his base. Almost exactly half the US Budget consists of welfare and there is little room to cut without alienating his voters, but he has a love affair with tariffs, which will be paid by US citizens, although he makes it out that they are paid by other countries. It will all start again in earnest next week after a month's reprieve and if he proceeds, he will grind US industry to a halt as supply chains freeze up, but prices will skyrocket. It won't take much for that to filter through to unemployment and a recession.
