I have contacted the company to ask about these daily one-unit trades. The company keeps a close watch on shareholdings and can identify the entity responsible for most of theses trades, but like the rest of us they are not sure of the motivation. Whatever it is, it's trivial. The number of shares genuinely for sale is tiny: about 0.2% according to my platform (Westpac) and buyers outnumber sellers by three to one. When results come through for the next round of drilling I expect the gap will be even wider and genuine trades should swamp all this tinkering about.
