"There never was a Palestinian nation to displace."
Oracle,I have heard that said before. BUT, there WAS a Palestine.....and if there was a Palestine, whatever their origins, the people who inhabited it were surely Palestinians?
I remember still, a poem I learned as a child:
Forgive spelling, a/c from memory:
"Quinquerene from Nineveh,
From distant Ophir,
Rowing home to haven
In sunny Palestine
With a cargo of Ivory, apes and peacocks,
Sandalwood, cedarwood,
And sweet white wine..." etc
So Palestine existed, way before the formation of Israel,& therefore, surely, Palestinians, as such.....
And reportedly, many races coexisted therein with the resident Jews, with no religious clash or problems.....until now, virtually. And with the occupation and denial of access to holy places of worship, Muslim and Christian, that situation will get worse. Wait till they have to face Christian suicide bombers, a situation I hope wont happen.
On the issue of the "Right of Return" to Israel, I think most agree it cant happen. But assistance could be given to those to re-settle back in their own state of Palestine.
Just my thoughts.
