Rising energy costs will do more to damage our Steel / Alumina industries than the US tariffs.
The collapse of the Whyalla steelworks and the previous closure of Newcastle, mean Australia is NOT self sufficient anymore and dependent on foreign imports of steel.
Previous governments, both LNP and ALP, influenced by Green ideology and Carbon Net Zero energy policies, have placed Australia in a very dire situation. The Chinese Navy have demonstrated how easy it is for them to blockade our overseas critical imports and how unprepared we are.
Now we are importing gas, due to our pursuit of LW ideology.
Our standard of living is declining, our manufacturing base is almost gone, our defense forces are impotent and we still expect the US to come to our rescue. What a mess.
