one would expect that a co. like Rio would have inspected every angle to this. and I agree Aluminium needs certainty of supply. more than a half hour cooling is no good, or so I've read when Tomago Al was called on the reduce their consumption a few years ago.
the tech needs to be proven and this is a job that will show if renewables can cut the mustard.
