yet the mining companies are treated as a protected monolithic monarchy.... they rule Aus. and receive special rates and assistance.
this is anachronistic.... it was worthwhile to bring down electricity costs when such largesse was introduced, but now coal is not only less desirable but becoming unnecessary. coal has always brought harm to the communities as well as electricity (the good), but now the harm has multiplied by a factor of 100+.
so all subsidies should be gradually transferred to the replacement of coal. nuclear energy.
