Hi KP,
Yes, hygiene or lack of - so many use public facilities and not washing hands - then to the shops handling trolleys and shopping etc. However, are we too soft as people - take so called Bali Belly for example - many foreigners allegedly get sick but we don't hear too much about locals succumbing - perhaps they do or perhaps their system adjusts?
Then Kenyan runners running marathons in bare feet - I have trouble running even with shoes on but would have great difficulty without and particularly in rough and hot terrain - Kenyans much tougher then us by conditioning?
With all our mod-cons we seem to become so reliant on 'things' and 'systems' aiding our lives that we'd be in many ways lost should such systems disappear or cease to work - internet down, EFTPOS down, power outages etc.
Prior to living in my existing residence there was no roof insulation under metal roofing, no air-conditioning installed nor ceiling fans - and I wonder how people lived here when a heatwave lasting multiple days occurred?
Back to hygiene - recently saw a sign in a public facility - 'please wash your hands for 30seconds or more to stop the spread' - ok, no problem, except that a 'pushbutton water tap' after pushed cut out after 5seconds.

So, wash left hand whilst use right hand to push the button 6 times - and then swap? Council needs a bit of training on system correlations - besides they're hardly qualified in hygiene issues - start by providing soap would help a little.
The best way to avoid many issues in health is building natural immunity and less reliance on 'scientifically proven' manmade inorganic substances with induced alleged 'rare' side effects.
For a while now I started to use bicard soda for in home cleaning of all manner of things - no harsh chemicals, no smells, cheap and in this case very effective - saves heaps of money too. Oddly, it's not advertised unlike all those other effective and expensive cleaning products. As for masks, I use one too on rare occasions like when chopping or sanding wood with power tools or when I'm sick or to avoid punitive measures imposed on us. Things have certainly changed over time - don't recall buying, seeing or using sanitizers for decades, prior to the 'pandemic'.
Common sense seems to be missing on many fronts - just an observation, many may disagree. Love my non-electric pressure cooker too - under pressure, any pesky germs have no hope - efficient cooking on many fronts.
