This podcast with Dr Frank Jackel from Metals Hub gives a great insight into the maturing lithium market. He makes the point that the liquidity of the spot market gives protection against manipulation. He states that ideally the spread between negotiated contracts and spot sales should 60-70% negotiated and 40-30% spot. You might recall in a recent post of mine that it was Metals Hub who facilitated the auction for 16,000 tonnes of spodumene for Albemarle. You might also recall that the spodumene was to be collected by the buyer from Zhenjiang, China at the buyers expense. I also highlighted that a shipment of spodumene that I believe is from NAL, will be arriving in Zhenjiang on 01 April.
