BHP Billiton chairman, Don Argus, last night told the
mining company’s annual meeting that a weak world
economy will push the group’s growth below average in
the short term, and necessitate a campaign to promote
the company’s stable cash flows. Mr Argus also
defended BHP Billiton’s new remuneration scheme,
which could see the incentive component of 654
executive’s salaries reduce the profit of the world’s
largest mining company by $76.4m in the current
