Your simplifications are what destroys the relevance.
Put simply there will always be plenty enough steel to add nickel etc to in order to make stainless steel. Just as there is always (in our real world) enough water to add other much more valuable ingredients to in order to make beer.
You should focus more on idle nickel mines and pig nickel. Coking coal supply is an irrelevance.
Not sure what happens to W,X,Y,Z, but I suggest the stay in the Economics 101 class, or in other fairytales.
