In today's FOMC statement it said "The unemployment rate has stabilized at a low level in recent months, and labor market conditions remain solid." While we still obsess over every Fed word and projection, there is a big picture important point to make I believe. When inflation was consistently between 1-2% pre Covid or at least in the multi decade declining path, the Fed had all the license to respond with monetary policy, especially in very experimental ways, to whatever economic ills came our way. The big difference now I believe is that in this post Covid inflation growth spurt and now with the huge cloudiness with the impact of tariffs, the Fed is just not there for us in the same way we so became long time accustomed to. https://x.com/pboockvar/status/1902443814981075386
