They won't cut waste from government by just sacking people - they need a strategy to target wasteful areas.
Imagine you were producing a product - 40% of the expenditure goes in molding the product into a shape, 10% goes into painting the mold and 50% goes into processing the product into it final form.
If you just cut 10% from everything then you have not increased the efficiency.
If you see that painting the mold is unnecessary, then you can just eliminate the painting process - getting rid of waste and 10% cost.
Elon doe not eem to understand that and Trump jut want to eliminate government altogether - not being very clever.
