I think the share price can move around alot prior to any ex dividend date.
Very keen to hear from the comapny as to next years earnings, level of debt, possible share buyback and yes amount of dividend. Upon presentation of this info...... should see some upward share price movement, in the short term.
$900m was received by the company, last Monday. They are probably dealing with the banking syndicate to finalise new loan arrangement, before I would imagine a detailed briefing, from the company.....The $900m - given SIP will pay their accounts for stock - means $100m cash over and above market cap and company operational loan (*nothing priced in for worth of current business)
In a company webcast (July 31 results)....CEO goes to some length to explain his approach for a future successful business...is to generate a solid return on bank finance...eg 12% to 14%. Standard stuff, but nice to hear him talking this way.
Key point to take out of such comments though....is that they still will be carry significant debt. (Say $350m in TOTAL debt @ 12% nett return means $40m NPAT.)
$40m profit justifies their present market cap of $500m....but that leaves some $400m left over SURPLUS cash.
I have been over all the company disclosures a "million" times....the share price upside here is significant (mouth watering, in fact).
The stock has little following by retail investors. Just look at how few members of this board read the thread. That the stock does not have much retail interest is a real positive...as I think a large fully franked dividend, will attrack a range of new investors, currently not exposed to the company.
Suck a dividend (I think about 18 cents-$200m) may skull drag the share price higher, in this still difficult trading/investing environment.
Good opportunity in my view.
