To make money. They borrow the shares, dump them, and then have to buy them back at a lower price. Most positions where closed on Monday and yesterday.
I'm not surprised the initial positions were taken as the share price was exhausted after a large gain over a week or so. It was always going to pull back.
I was surprised to see that new position yesterday.
