The auto industry would be driven into an auto recession following a 25% US tariff on imported cars into US. says an auto executive.
An auto plant can't be easily established in US within 2-3 years, so there will be immense short term pain.
This pain would be extended across the lithium sector as well.
While $1.7B EV imports into US are mainly from Japan and South Korea, and EU, the impact to lithium is likely to come from any retaliatory auto tariffs outside of the US, in particular on Tesla.
