Given the context references how comments were, or were not, noticed in the past, I'd argue "had" is equally acceptable. Not to mention there is nothing in my comment that can be misunderstood or is ambiguous.Just for your information the dictionary does not necessarily dictate how language is used, but more so records how it is used. I appreciate the attempt at critical thinking, but I recommend putting in the effort elsewhere into something more constructive.
