Your point on higher sale price late in the qtr, reminds me of the fact that GMD had stashed 6,412oz in the gold holding in the Dec qtr. Dec production was 57,055oz and they sold only 49,643oz.
If Mar qtr gold producton is low, then GMD can sell the 6,412oz to boost the revenue. It would been great if this gold is sold today but unlikely as I think they would be conservative and use the averaging approach to mitigate potential "opportunity cost". This should keep the financial analysts/investors happy.
Lets hope that GMD management will do what is best for GMD share price i.e. consistent improvement.
