There would appear to be some details circulating on a DoE hit list for grants targeting cancellation.
Critically, Jigar Shah notes that most of the $900m list is in eastern and western "blue" states. E25's plans are in one of the "red" states. This can't and won't be proof of E25's grant surviving any cuts (and legal challenges to cuts) but it is indicative of thinking whereby politics comes into play.
This article also has discussion of the cuts, but again no reference to E25. This again isn't definitive but if you have a $166m grant being cut within a list of $900m, its going to be one of the largest and would frequently be commented upon.
