Totally agree in part to your first 2 paragraphs.

But you state you dont live in a hugely populated city and as such you get to breath some fresh air, so lets look at facts of how ICE Vehicle's pollute those populated City's and take one of the worst in the world that being China.

So looking at statistics and we can go back to the Covid period as a great example to get some really outstanding figures based on factual information...when the Covid 19 outbreak led to the economic slowdown and imposed lockdowns there was a 4.8% yearly drop of CO2 emissions during the first qtr of 2020, and some people could even see clear skys in China...something that is a rarity in that Country.

That being said post pandemic saw a huge increase and jump of over 14% in emissions afterwards and recently again we have seen China's emissions slowy reverse with the upscaling into electric vehicles and they are currently leading the world in the manufacturing of EV's, in saying that they still have huge amounts of work to do to reduce their carbon intensity in primary manufacturing and energy consumption but either way you look at it the figures don't lie and clearly show that the more oil driven vehicles produced are because they benefit the oil company's like the Saudi's and every other oil producing conglomerate who don't give a shet about the air you breath only their hip pockets and there is jack any government can do about it unless they get real about the need to change for our future generations...but there's a real good reason they won't its called excised tax on every litre pumped through into your ICE Vehicle funny what money does to people...so no trains for you not in the short term anyway.
