I've watched the whole back catalogue of this program. I find it so interesting on many levels. Firstly there is the stripping away of rotten timbers and plaster and maybe foundations so that what needs to be done is revealed in all it's horror to the new owners who may have been blissfully unaware. Then comes the restoration where the building comes back to its original glory with or without some modcons.
My dad was a very skilled self-employed tradesman and when I was very young I was dragooned into helping him on many jobs where unknowingly I absorbed a lot of his knowledge and insights, so I have some understanding of what's going on with these restorations. And it's fascinating to watch. Frankly I'm surprised that there are still builders & tradesmen around who have àn understanding of how to go about these restorations.
It's fascinating to say the least to watch these marvellous old buildings come back to a usable state.
The AbC unfortunately devotes too much of its publicly funded budget to pursuing its political agenda and not much is left for the general viewer.
