If only China had access to GCM's VHD graphite, they probably wouldn’t need to resort to building underwater AI data centers just to deal with heat management. VHD graphite offers exceptionally high thermal conductivity with far lower energy requirements, making it ideal for cooling high-performance AI processors efficiently and sustainably. Instead of relying on the ocean to absorb the excess heat, they could have solved the problem at the material level—more elegant, more scalable, and a lot less infrastructure-heavy. It really highlights how advanced materials like VHD graphite can make a massive difference in the design and operation of future tech.
